Most kink tests tell you what you like.
This one is built to tell you why.
A four-layer self-assessment: where you sit on power, what activities pull you, what the kink actually does for you, and how it has to be set up to work. The familiar archetypes come out too — as a result, not the thing measured.
Taking the test requires a quick Discord login and current membership in the Resonance server — that's what keeps every take tied to a real person, not a bot.
Four layers
- Orientation — lead ↔ follow, switch-pull, how much control changes hands.
- Domains — ~20 activity axes (sensation, restriction, roleplay, service…), giving and receiving kept separate.
- Drivers — the point of difference. Eleven psychological needs the kink can meet: authority, surrender, intensity, transcendence, catharsis, devotion, ritual, transgression, play, intimacy, exposure.
- Modifiers — experience, context-dependence, edge tolerance, arousal-onset, aftercare, attachment.
Every question is answered twice: how it makes you feel, and where you are with it — curious, want to try, have done, or a hard limit.
What this is and isn't
It's a self-reflection tool informed by the published literature on BDSM — not a diagnosis, not therapy, not validated (yet). Results are yours; nothing is stored unless you choose to save a shareable link. Kink is not a symptom.
