No content involving minors, in any form, ever. No sexualised depiction of children or childhood, no age-ambiguous framing. This is absolute and not subject to any "educational" or "fantasy" argument. Violations get an immediate permanent ban and are reported to the relevant authorities. Who this is for
Resonance is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and you confirm that by passing the age gate. It's invite-only — you need a Discord account that's a current member of the Resonance server to log in, take the test at all, save a result, view profiles, or use compare. A snapshot result link someone else already shared with you (/result#r=…) can still be viewed without an account — only taking the test yourself, and saving a new result, require one.
What this is, and isn't
Resonance is a self-reflection tool, informed by published research on BDSM and kink. It is not a medical, psychological, or diagnostic instrument. Nothing on this site is professional advice, and a result here is not a clinical or psychological assessment of you. Your account and your content
A saved result belongs to you. You control its visibility and can delete it, or your whole account, at any time — see Privacy for exactly what that removes. Losing your Discord server membership, or a long period of inactivity, triggers the same kind of deletion automatically, on the schedule described there.
Don't use an account that isn't yours, try to access another member's private results, or attempt to circumvent the invite-only membership requirement. We can suspend or remove access for behaviour that violates these terms or the server's rules, including the absolute rule above.
The instrument's limits
The scoring model is our own design, informed by (not copied from) the academic literature it cites, and it has not yet been formally validated. Treat a result as a starting point for reflection and conversation, not a settled fact about who you are.
Content and originality
Glossary and result copy on this site is original writing; where it draws on published research, that research is cited rather than reproduced. Nothing here is lifted from any other kink test or reference site.
No warranty
This site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, while it's actively developed. We'll try to give notice before anything that meaningfully changes how your data is handled.
Who operates this
Resonance is made and hosted by Shroomy AD, a subdomain of the Shroomy Studios infrastructure. Shroomy AD is the operator and publisher for legal and billing purposes.
